bank recs - starting balance

Hi

I have just completed a bank rec. the history shows the correct ending balance. when i start a new bank rec the starting balance does not match my last closing balance? how is this possible please?

That happened to me for the first time ever last month and it was because somebody deleted a reconciled transaction. I was not a happy chappy!

Hi im using sage 50 Pauline.
eagle, i have since found out that someone had deleted a transaction whch had been reconsiled. i didnt think this was possible? i re instated it and got things back to normal. but thanks for replys :)

It's possible but not without it warning you that you are about to delete a reconciled transaction, sort of pushing you to thinking you might want to tell someone about this. Some people just want to watch the world burn I suppose. evileye

Hi.....as Steve said you can probably delete a bank reconciled transaction but will get a warning, but if it had been VAT reconciled I don't think you would have been able to delete it.

You'll have to educate people not to delete things without asking!
