Providing data to accountant from sage for year end
Permalink Closed

Client has asked to hand over data / file for the previous year so they can pass this over to the accountant.

However, i get the feeling that the client does not want me to have any access to the accountant...

I do feel that there are certain things which I would like to bring to the accountants attention, and leave it to the accountants judgement as to how they deal with this matter - how should i tackle this?

Also:

- what are the main things to watch out for at year end?

- should I run the year end in sage before handing data to accountant?

- should i provide electronic or paper file to start off with

- is there anything else i need to consider?

your input will be much appreciated

Hi There

At the end of the day the client is employing you to do the books and employing the accountant to do the year end submissions.  If they dont want you to speak to the accountant then that is up to them but would be strange if they didnt in my experience.

Re your other queries

1. Bank has been reconciled and you have run the bank rec report at the year end from SAGE.  Debtor and Creditor control accounts agreed to list of debtors and creditors at year end.  Your have reconciled all other balance sheet balances at year end eg PAYE/NIC, loans, VAT, HP, fixed assets, prepayments, accruals and you have working papers file to support the balances.

2. No give them a copy of the year end before you do the year end close down.

3. Give accountant a copy of the back up so they can access it themselves.

4. Nothing other than normal stuff.

Regards

Mark
