How much to budget for website?
Permalink Closed

Hi All,

Currently all of my business comes from word of mouth, I'm looking to increase my customer base so am looking to setup a website for my services.

I was just wondering what sort of price is reasonable to pay for a website, also is it better to pay a one off fee or a monthly fee?

I want something quality that will reflect well on myself and drive new business, any advice on what I should be looking for would be greatly appreciated as it seems there are a lot of companies out there!

Thanks,

Susie

I use the Namesco Sitebuilder which costs me £55 (plus VAT) per year including a domain name (I messed that up for starters and bought a domain name before getting the site but they sorted me out in a very freindly and professional manner)

There are lots of bells and whistle sites out there but all that you need is an advertising platform rather than something able to take payments, etc.

Sitemaker takes a bit of getting used to but once you do it's very easy to build and maintain your own professional looking site that uses the whole page unlike some packages that really do look cheap.

Also 1&1 always get good write ups. Kris would be the best person to answer as he builds sites as a side business so knows a lot more about this stuff. Also Vince is a bit of a whizz with all things internet.

Personally I was looking for cheap but looks expensive as my site is my secondary rather than primary marketing tool.

Basically I assume that people will go there for further information when they have found me via more traditional means (I am only looking to service the local rather than national market.... Says someone with a client base from Kent to Edinburgh!).

Good luck in finding the package that is right for you.

kind regards,

Shaun
