Year end date - system change date (Sage) - help please
Permalink Closed

Hi

My clients Year end is May. The accountants have not finished the year end accounts so Ive NOT yet completed my Year End process on Sage (they asked me not to just yet!).

But Ive just had the client on the phone wanting to know income and profit to date and projections for the rest of the year.  I CANNOT get the P&L report for the period June to date (I assume because Ive not done the year end process).

Is there a way I can change the year end date in Sage so I can get this info so I dont have to manually calculate it all?   Or can I do the year end process without having the correct opening balances from the Accountant without it messing it all up for when I do get the figures?

Help please

Chesh

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

Hi Chesh

Do your year end and balance forward into the next year so you can do what your client needs.

When accountant has done the accounts they can give opening balance adjustments to agree the signed accounts to the SAGE accounts.

The opening balance adjustments will only affect the balances sheet so there wont be any affect on the profit and loss account going forward.

Regards

Mark

Hi Chesh

You could do a backup of your live copy today. Then do the year end procedure so you can get your figures for the projections only.

You can then restore your backup to the 'old' version as requested by the accountant.

The accountant may have requested not to do the year end if they are making P&L adjustments and want these shown in the P&L nominals rather than the reserves for comparitive purposes.

Hope that helps

Jeremy
