I'm new to this site. I'm just starting an accountancy business, offering bookkeeping, end of year accounts, VAT etc . Just wondered is anybody who is already trading can offer tips and advice about how you got your first clients. Am looking for ideas. Already have a website for info and contact details, have placed business cards in local outlets and am currently doing a door to door drop of postcards - trying to target these to houses that appear to have businesses eg. white vans on the drive . Am also about to advertise in some local magazines that are delivered free to residences in the area. Just wondered if anyone had come up with other methods that had worked and could please share them. Many thanks in advance.
When i first started out business card got me the most new clients. Always keep them on you, you never know when you will meet a client, and you dont look very professional giving out your number on a scrap of paper.
I found that advertising was a bit of a waste of money.
All the best, you have found the best free resource here though!

Many thanks for replying. Yes I have a supply of them at all times - also with my husband aswell, just in case!! Yes have realised how helpful and supportive this site can be. Hopefully, I'll be able to offer support aswell as receive it. Had 4 enquiries from a postcard drop that I've sent out around the local area, so hopefully it'll start to work. All needing their end of year accounts and self assessments by the end of teh month though - so some possible very late nights ahead!!
