Why not just post your positions on here. There are certainly a lot of people here trying to get back into work and the one's on here have taken the initiative to try and change their lives... That doesn't make the people on here and those looking at JC+ mutually exclusive. Sure that we have a lot of the better relevant for your position job seekers reading these pages.
Just a thought.
kind regards,
Shaun.

Hi
About 3 years ago was the last time we recruited and trying to work out how to advertise with the job centre was a nightmare. Well you'd think today there would be significant improvements wouldn't you? What a nightmare. No wonder employers struggle to recruit.
It's not obvious which website you should be using and then you lose confidence whether the website is genuine. Then passwords don't work and you have to wait and wait for emails. Try finding a telephone number for employers!
Two days later I get there. Shocking
Sonya
Oh god, just saw below that the site has allowed ambulance chasers to advertise here...
Isn't it about time that there were lawyers who stated representing business to stuff up those making frivelous claims.
Just waiting for the ad on TV.
"Is some little scumbag trying to take you to the cleaners for stubbing their toe on a paving slab that it took them half an hour to pry up. You don't have to settle, at business lawyers we'll make sure that they have to pay extortionate fee's and costs for your time that will see them having to sell at least one kidney and have them living out of a cardboard box by Christmas".

Lol that took less than 10 mins to go off topic. A nice chuckle in the evening lol
It's an admin job so that's why I've not really considered advertising it here. It's "sort of" on the job centre website. I say that as today it disappeared and I discovered that when you edit (done yesterday) you have to wait a further 24 hours for it to go live! Today I called and told them it had been more than that so they made it live and now there's a typo in the email address! Not my error! So tomorrow I have to call again - day 4 here we come!
If you think you have had a bad do Sonya, you want to try using the site as a jobseeker.
I typed in 'accounts' within a '10' mile radius of my postcode to be given the option of applying for a job as an Electrical Technician some 50 miles away, 'Must have excellent soldering
skills' which although i have, isn't why i opted to study AAT lol.
School careers advisor. (we are talking back in the dark ages here).
He noticed on my resume that I looked after horses and his suggestion was had I thought of a career as a jockey!
I was just over six foot tall!!!!

I seem to have shrunk with age rather than grown. I'm now 6 foot but I was 6 foot 2?
I blame the metric system, lol.
The only decision that I regret was taking the money of a job offer rather than going to Uni to study law. It was a good Uni. I had been accepted. The finances were in place.... WHY.
If only I had a degree I could have been making so much more money stacking shelves in Tesco's now.

I told my career 'advisor' I wanted to be a nanny or a Beauty therapist lol. What a laugh. They packed me off to college and my dad practically dragged me out by my ear lol. I ended up doing IT and building computers!
Careers advisors (of course not all) are still in the dark ages. My girls have had dreadful advice and support. Kids without family support don't stand a chance of making good choices. In fact - choice - what's that? They all get steam Rollered towards uni and then companies like eagle pick up the pieces. You'd be astonished at the amount of people we have who have told us they now realise their degree is 'useless' and they're now retraining.
It actually worked quite well for me the YTS did. My mate landed a YTS at a warehouse, after 6 weeks a perm job came up and they took him on. Good money too
(I'm going back some 20 odd years) actually 2 jobs came up and they took me on as well, i never did a YTS. I love my friend.
I did a YTS for a butcher aged 16, I got £25 a week and had to give my Mother £20 of it for my keep, little did she know the boss used to top my wages up with another £25, oh them were the days, but I did go on to run and manage my own shop so for me YTS worked.
Worked for me too as I was employed within a year but the wages were dreadful back then - no minimum wage. I think they certainly taught us a good work ethic from a young age. These days Many employers won't consider young people until they're 18. Sonya
