Am I being unreasonable, there are twelve months in the year and HMRC decide to make services unavailable at year end so they can upgrade the system? The world has gone crazy. For more information see the link below.

Obviously, the updates should be finalised to coincide with RTI coming into force tomorrow.
If it is not back online by the end of the 7th and you are 'late' with your VAT Return please make sure you print off a copy of the notification on HMRCs site that the system is down. That way if HMRC do sneakily issue a late filing penalty you can use the notification as the basis of your appeal.
