Vehicle Value incorrect on P46 Car
Permalink Closed

Just finalising P11d and realise that an employee who had the benefit of a company in June 2012 to date and P46(CAR) submitted to HMRC but the list price was overstated by £2000 as the wrong model was used.  I have changed it on the actual P11d to be submitted but should I notifyHMRC about the error or let them pick it up when they get the return? It is a genuine error as there are so many different models of the same car.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Roz

I have decided that I will wait and see what HMRC say when they get the P11d and hopefully adjust the employees tax code accordingly

Hi Roz,

Make sure you check the employees tax code is amended. I am an ex Employer Compliance Officer at HMRC and quite often found discrepancies between what had been submitted on P11D's by employers and what was actually on the systems. One of the many reasons I left!
