NI for small business

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know anything about the Governments criteria for small business (less than 5 employees) and whether NI will no longer be due??? Just had a client ask me this , I've googled it and can find nothing.. ??

Right, I have read it all (laughing) and can't find anything mentioned about having less than 5 employees...only what was mentioned in the budget. Have I missed something?

lol I ought to have pointed you toward paragraph 1.19 but hope you found it stimulating :)

Re. 5 employees; I'm pretty sure that 5 used to be an official criteria for exemption from some statutory employer obligations but I'm going back before the government before the last one - eg 20 years. Only a suggestion, but maybe your client is too - and mixing it up with the recent announcement.

I can't recall off-hand that 5 employees is still used for anything but would be glad to be told otherwise.
