FPS mess

The majority of my weekly payrolls are still requiring an FPS for week 1.

The first one, their process date is 8th April 2013 but they decided paid their staff on 5th April and not notify me. How on earth can I submit an FPS without a time machine?

The other clients are the ones who failed to send back the information request sheets I sent to them months ago (with regular reminders each month) to prepare for RTI so I do not know the exact day they pay their staff. I've emailed, left messages on their answer machines but nothing.

Sage are a 40 minute wait and I can't find any information online or in the booklet.

Has anyone else had this problem?

The fisrt client in question had originally told me that they paid their staff on a wednesday the following week so the FPS would have been due on 10th April. But they decided to change this at the last minute.

Turn the tables on them. By the time they have your payroll and are ready to pay, you have already filed a declaration and they must only pay what has already been declared and on the specified day.

Whilst the 'on or before' rule is in place, you cannot 'follow them'. They must tell you of changes beforehand.

Warn them they will incur 'failure' for penalty purposes if they pay anything other than what has been declared.

I KNOW, pay days will vary and a strict on or before rule is contrary to human nature. For that reason I cannot see it surviving in it's present form.

Thats my take on it, Kay.
best wishes,
Tim
