Should I submit?
Permalink Closed

Evening all

I have run the payroll for a client but not yet submitted it as I am still waiting for confirmation from the client that everything is OK. The RTI should be submitted by today but I am not sure what to do. Should I send it even though I have not heard from the client?

I don't think they are going to be issuing fines in the first year for being late submitting. Being late in paying is a different matter - as they now know exactly how much is due to them and there can be no excuses.

I can only think the Government hopes 'on or before' reporting will cause a drift toward in-house payroll preparation.

It's absolutely not normal to have an employer report salary/wages prior to paying them. CIS doesn't work like this, things can change at the last minute and the likes of us are often off-site.

On the other hand payroll is a serious matter and many employers do not operate PAYE properly -- there was an example here only yesterday of complete ignorance of PIW's.

Georgie. The way things are the employer either replies to you or must pay what you have reported.......on time.
As far as possible, I would provide a projection of what you intend to report should you not be informed of changes.

Tim
