another question....

Private pension - where is this entered in the tax return? last year I put it into 'uk pensions and state benfits' but is this box just for state pensions. I just want to check that I did it right last year

ahh sorry I have got this now, I've just found the box other pensions, not state by looking at the return I filed last year - sorry

Is this for pension receipts or for contributions to private pension plans?

If contributions, make sure you 'gross' up the pension payments, ie dont put the actual amounts paid...

This a very common mistake and don't think it is very clear on the returns..

I use IRIS for this which automatically grosses up the pension contributions for me.
