VAT Exempt Company??
Permalink Closed

Hi All

As a care agency our company is regarded as VAT exempt under health and social care and I believe there is nothing we can do about it.

Is this the case as it doesnt seem on that we cant re-claim VAT on items such as medical gloves, aprons and other such essential health and safety equipment.

Im aware our clients can buy certain products that they dont have to pay VAT on but we were hoping to provide these items for clients. Its nigh on impossible sometimes trying to explain the process.

Any input would be good.

Thanks

Hi Stanna,

you said it is an agency. Does it mean that you don't actually provide care services yourself, but facilitate your clients who provide those services?

Could you give more details as to what your company does, please. Otherwise it is difficult to advise.

If the company is exempt of VAT then, yes, you cannot recover any input VAT on purchases related to your exempt activity.

Thanks.

Sorry not an agency in that sense we provide the carers who work for us.

I read the VAT notice that exempts us but doesnt seem right that we cant claim for essential products. I was just wondering if there was another angle we could come from but I guess not.
