My clients payroll weekk ends on sunday and I run the payrolll and pay employees on following Wednesday.
When RTI started I spoke to some at HMRC and asked if I should date the sunday or weds, he said date sunday as normal.
I have now read an accountants blogg which says many employers are not reporting correctly, so I phone HMRC again this week and was told should date the day it was paid. I said the first payroll would include an adjustment as I would have to miss a tax week. He said the pay would still work out the same as it would assume it was the next tax week. Tried this on payroll and as I thought it adjusted tax. How can you trust the help line when they give you different information and don't seem to know how payroll works.
