how many tax returns do I need to file for a partnership?
Permalink Closed

Hi

I have 2 clients who are in a partnership together. The partnership started half way through the tax year. One of the partners did not work for the first part of the year and the other was self-employed and a sole trader for the first part of the year.

I think I have to file 2 standard SATR's each with partnership supplementary pages and one self-employment supplement page. And also 1 partnership tax return. I am filing on paper as they have already missed the deadline and the 64-8 they filled in has not yet been processed by HMRC so I need to print off these form.

Please can anyone tell me if this is correct.

Thanks in advance

"I am filing on paper as they have already missed the deadline" - not sure what you mean by this?

thank you. It's for the 2011/12 tax year and I got them to send off a 64-8 form but when I rang HMRC to check the progress they told me it would take 5 weeks to process so I cannot file their returns on-line as their agent so I am having to do paper returns.

Thanks for you help

If you register for online services, as if you are the client, will that allow you to file an online return? The client should receive the activation code a lot quicker

Do you use taxation software and do you have your own HMRC ID as an agent?

Andica allows me to file SAs using my login, regardless of whether I'm the agent of the client or not.

Liz makes a good point - you need software to file the Partnership return. Andica is the cheapest I have seen and is easy to use.
