Seems ironic that a company that doesn't pay it's fair share of tax still insists in taxing it's employees too much!! ... Rest of this deleted because I don't want my daughter losing her job!

Has anyone actually done anything illegal and if not we can't say that they have evaded anything. Only that their accountants are good at tax planning.

This is probably a bit incendiary to say, but i did feel a bit sorry for Starbucks and Jimmy Carr. They did nothing illegal, as being part of a tax avoidance scheme, they must have even told HMRC about it, so they were clear and up front about it. But got dragged accross the coals.
No one goes on about builders (bit of a topical subject for me) who give two quotes, one legit one, and one for cash. This is illegal and they are only looked upon as being a bit of a rogue.
Probably a bit controversial for a sunny Friday afternoon.

Yes fair point...I don't even want to talk about the day I have had with my client (now ex) the builder. I knew from the start that he was a rogue and a nasty one at that. And I had a gut feeling that he wouldn't pay me. And he hasn't and he has no intention of either....Oh well, I shall put it down to experience!.... If he won't pay the VAT man he's not going to pay me!
It's as if they want their employees to leave. If another employer gives full allowances, even at the same rate of pay - what do they expect will happen?
