Howdy BKNers

With the new football season only 4 weeks away it is time to get your teams ready for the new challenge. As Training Links Rob Hupston won the first challenge he will be out to keep the winners plaque in the Training Link office and it is down to you to prize it from his grasp, and talking of prize as an extra incentive I will personally be throwing in a bottle of Champagne to this years winner and a box of luxury chocs to the runner up.

You will need to register your team and details before joining the league, please use the following link. http://fantasy.premierleague.com/

Once you have registered your team you can join the BKN/TRAINING LINK League by entering this code 247959-66894 on the join a league link.

Good luck to those who take part and remember friends and family are welcome to join.

All the best
Dave

Just to emphasise that I was posting as Dave, for Dave and there is no way that I will be parting with Champagne or chocolates... Unless the recipients really cute and doesn't talk at all about football... Or shoes... Or handbags... Or shopping (unless for cars, movies or video games)... lol. no wonder I'm happily single.

I haven't done 1 of these in over 10 years, despite promising myself to create 1 on many occasions. I've sorted my team out & I'm happy with it for now. That said, I started typing this at around 1 o'clock & since then I've made 1 change & thought about another but left it.

Woohoo - been waiting for this seasons one to kick off.... Consider myself joined and ready! No Torres thats for sure

KEVERTON - Kev You win the best team name for me.. haha COYB's hoping for Martinez to get us going from the off!

My team is in - but for sure it will get changed 20+ times before the season kicks off and Kone smacks a hat-trick on his debut..!

Feel free to join in the OptegraMRP challenge too - £100 prize for the winner and £25 for the runner up. Email me for league code - jeremy@optegra-financial.co.uk

Cheers

3 blues & no kopites in my team, it was always the way when I was growing up, as was the team name (I used to add FC on the end because I felt it had a better ring to it but I've binned that for this 1).

It's a good job Liverpool are crap now because when they had good players my pride used to damage my team, as it is I don't think I'd have picked any due to lack of ability on their part.

Big Thank you Shaun for making my posts while in the BKN dungeon from which I have now escaped and am in hiding.

Only have 4 teams join so far for the BKN/Training Link fantasy football challenge. 3 weeks to go before the big kick off and need more teams taking part, forget summer holidays, forget this barmy weather we are having and get your teams in.

Good luck to those who take part and we need to take the title from my colleague Rob Hupston as we have had to widen our office doors since he won last years comp.

Cant believe the season opens with a Chelsea double game week..... And I quoted "NO TORRES." Sods law he will bang some goals in!

Also wish Bale would make up his mind and go to Madrid, his £12m fee is a big dent into the £100m....

Only 5 teams entered at last count.... come on BKNers Don't be scared of Rob, he fluked it last year

I will be there.  I also made the Torres mistake last year, never again.

i wish Rooney and Suarez would sort themselves out as well, they should consider people doing fantasy football and stop listening to their agents.

Thanks for trying to get more people involved Jeremy, and as you state we cant let Rob win two years on the trot. But we can keep the winners plaque in the Training Link office!!!!

Nick I am hoping to see Rooney in blue by the start of the season, I do know Rob has Bale in his team and he is almost certain to be going to Real Madrid. My Villa season ticket came in the post this morning, cant wait for the season to start.

I feel fairly certain that Bale will be playing for Real come the beginning of the season.

Suarez I'm really not sure about, I don't think he'll be there come the beginning of 2014-2015 but whether they can get him to stay for the forthcoming season is anyone's guess. Personally I'd bin him, his ability is top class but he's a liability when it comes to discipline & to me he's not worth the hassle. Suarez caused enough trouble when he was happy at the club, expecting him to be professional when he's not would be risky. Look at Carlos Tevez, he's an excellent player with discipline problems & cost Juve £10m & I don't think Suarez is worth 4 times that.

Rooney I'm not sure about either. Obviously it was something that Moyes knew he had to deal with when he arrived. I think he's handled it really poorly so far, they obviously have a history together & I think Moyes just doesn't like him. Whether he meant it or not, the comments he made about being cover for van Persie were always going to upset him. Players of his ability don't like the idea of being back-up & Moyes could have just said that to compete at the level they want to compete at & to win as many competitions as they're aiming for, you need quality in depth & that everyone has a very important role to play. I hope that somneone starts a bidding war with Chelsea for him because Everton get 20 or 25% of any deal so the higher the price the better for us.

Hope you're all ready for the kick off, this time tomorrow I'll be half cut on my way to sunny Norwich to watch our 1st game of the season. Going to have a quick look at my team & see if there's any last-minute changes worth doing.

Its the BIG DAY Tomorrow and cant wait for kick off time. Its funny we have done so well in sport over the last couple of years but our national teams are still useless even so we have to be the most passionate supporters in the world and I for one feel sorry for people who have never had that adrenalin rush and excitement that only sport can give you.

Good luck to all those who take part and let the games and banter begin.

Now I know there a quite a few Villa fans on this site....

How many trust their players in a double game week?

I see Baker is the most popular cheap defender... mind you with the start they have to the season are any of them going to sneak some points.

Some good pre-season performances has made me change my team about 17 times so far..!

Good Luck everyone

Cheers

Villa could not have had a more difficult start to the season, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool within a week (GULP)

I can be thankful that Arsenal have a lot of injuries, I cant wait for the first home game of the season and hope Villa are not played 2 lost 2 by the time we play Liverpool. Well done to the Villa by looking after their season ticket holders with a cash back voucher, free access to AVFC TV and of course the official season ticket holders supporters badge.

Sad though that only 38% of premier league players are British, hence our national teams just don't cut it.

Changed my team about 5 times, No RVP in my team at 14m too expensive, double points for Villa and Chelsea players in game week 1 if you pick right.

Good luck in your league too Jeremy, I want that £100 lol

Roll on 12.00 today when I can see who has picked who.

Dave

Aston Villa 3 Arsenal 1 was about as much excitement as a man who lives with a woman who has taken a vow of chastity can take and should I have created a Womens Beach Volleyball league I fear this may have caused an outbreak of human combustion for middle aged men in the same situation as myself, so not only was the BKN/Training Link Fantasy Football league created as an outlet for the hard working members of the forum but I was actually taking your health into account as well.

I may still be canonised yet. St Dave of Training Link. I can see the halo above my head now; well it certainly wont be the Colgate ring lol.

Howdy BKNers

What a cracking start to the BKN/Training Link Fantasy football league, with the top 6 teams within 10 points of each other and not only that all Villa Fans to boot. Last years winner Rob Hupston leads the field with my Son Adam hot on his heels, in fact top 6 places filled by Training Link staff or family and BKN MD Steve Hillman who I dare say is out to make sure he does not get the wooden spoon again this year.

Top 5 read as follows
1. Jagar Bombers 95pts
2. Camos Villians 93pts
3. Bulls Ball Boys 91pts
4. Team GB 87pts
5. Hillmans Hotshots 86pts

Wooden Spoon leader after one game is BKN regular and Premier Trainings Nick Craggs with 27pts.

Good Luck in game week 2

Dave

Thats because he needs the wooden spoon to beat his new trainee with for the first week or so.

Hi Kev

The substitutes are done automatically if a player does not play, the order then of the substitutes is important too....

Cardiff Tickets sold out even before I had chance to take a look...

No beatings yet, he is doing really well, but it is kept in reserve just in case!

They just don't train people now like they did when I were a lad.

Would come back black and blue from office everyday and manager told me that if I did owt wrong it would be far worse.

Kids today don't know they're born.

lol. Knew that he would be a star form his first few posts on here as it was always about the knowledge and not the money.

Having the skill set combined with a personality then how can he fail? When I was a lad learning my trade I was sent for a week to the hardware shop after being sent there by my manager to ask for a long wait, oh and a tin of tartan paint lol

Seems a wooden spoon is by far the better optionbiggrin

So Nick I will gauge Spams progress by your fantasy league position.

Have a good weekend both

Dave

Nice one Nick wonder if Walcott will get the assist for Poldolski goal, I am off to the Villa for the 5.30 Kick off, cant believe Villa are 3/1 to win, I can feel a flutter coming on. I see there are some dodgy posts on the ICB forum again, which is why you need commending for your BKN no hint of marketing posts, keep up the good work and sound advice Nick, your a star.

I know Dave, as out ATP representative I spoken to Gary H about it, but it is becoming common place over there so i dont get involved, it just puts people off commenting (that and i cant comment on half of the forum as i wont pay another professional membership, i pay over £500 a year as it is) ,  but i am sure Gary H will sort it all out.  To be honest, i was a memeber of BKN way before i worked at Premier, the only difference is that i get paid whilst i am on here, not including Satudays unfortunately.

I reckon you could beat liverpool, they still have the Suarez cloud hanging over them, have fun!

Probably wise Nick, a lesson I had to learn the hard way as I cant afford to have any more complaints about me to the ICB, funny thing is though I could have made a few complaints myself about certain things but to me its just part and parcel of the industry I work in and besides that I am not so churlish about a storm in a tea cup, I do love the ICB though and have witnessed with my own eyes their improvement over the years, hard working passionate people whom I am proud to represent in my own small way.

anyway enough of that, the Villa match was a drab affair, both teams did not play well, those who watched it on TV would have got more excitement watching paint dry, it was so boring I left 10 mins before the end, Villa were useless and the players had no desire or passion at all, apart from Delph who was easily our best player. Think this is going to be a low scoring week but looking forward to the Man U Chelsea game.

Are you going to the conference this year? Be good if Spammy could tag along if you are as I would love to meet him.

Enjoy your Bank Holiday

Getting chucked out of a fancy hotel Nick is common practice if you associate yourself with the likes of mebiggrin and I hear it is common knowledge that I am still indebted to you for a pint, so with this in mind I have taken out a loan and will save it for the conference so you can be safe in the knowledge that I can afford 2 Pints and a water for Spammy lol.

Low scoring week which leaves the top 3 as follows.

1. Bulls Ball Boys 142 pts
2. Hellsbells FC 140 pts
3. Jagar Bombers 140 pts

This weeks top score was 65 pts shared by Fractals Utd and Super Randoms, so well done.

Nick Craggs has given up his wooden spoon and handed it to Marks Marvels, who will get it next week?

Well the international break is over and FIFA World Ranking see England dropping to 17th behind the likes of USA? How can this happen? Simples, we just have far too many foreigners playing in our leagues and the home grown talents just don't get a look in, the upside to this for the football fan is we probably have the best league in the world so please we are back with a weekend of Premier League action and the resumption of the BKN/Training Link Fantasy Football Challenge. Oh and if you fancy winning a million pound for nothing Sky Sports are giving it away to anyone who can get six correct scores from this afternoons pre selected matches, its free to enter so why not have a go. To register just use the link below.

http://super6.skysports.com/#acc-view Also if you register through Sky Sports you get £10 for free with no deposit required.

Top 3 in the BKN/Training Link league are as follows

1. Camos Villians 204 pts

2. Bulls Ball Boys 194 pts

3. Jagar Bombers 189 pts

Wooden spoon position is held by Marks Marvels.

Good luck this week.

 Hi Dave,

Welcome back from the dungeon!  I'm afraid I've failed to create a team this year.  My daughter got married at the beginning of August so I was rather busy before the start of the season and also busy after it recovering!  It's amazing how weddings take over your life!  Good luck to everyone else with wrestling the trophy away from Training Link though, I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see how everyone is doing

Well Good Morning Pauline

Nice to hear from you and good luck to your Daughter and her new husband with their Marriage. Sounds like it has been hectic for you and you must have had one mighty headache to need a month in recovery lol.

The league and your posts will be an emptier place without a founder team member in it, we are only four games in so why not get a team in, it will be fun to see if you climb up the league and don't forget a lot of teams don't bother making any subs so you could soon catch up, go on give yourself an hour and join in?

As for wrestling the trophy away from Training Link? Stop it your making my sides ache with laughter! My Son Adam joined this year and he is top of the league, he knows loads about football and my mission is to finish above him and last years winner Rob. To be fair if it was not for BKN Steves intervention there would have only been about 10 teams this year.

back from the dungeon which was a self inflicted place in the cells and I was not banned but made one or two over the top posts while a bit tipsy and did not want to put my company in any trouble as there is always someone who wants to complain about me at any given opportunity, still learnt my lesson and I am a good boy now lol.

Hope you are well and get a team in.

Take care
Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your good wishes for Amy and her new husband  It certainly was hectic, but been really busy with work as well.  I'll take a look this weekend and see if I can get a team together then.  Don't want hubby and son having all the fun on their league after all.  To be honest I'm seriously thinking about taking up golf as well....if you can't beat them, join them!

Right, back to this tax return!!  (Mine that is!)  Hope you continue to be a good boy!

League is starting to take shape and the usual suspects seem to have started where they left off last year with the exception of my Son Adam (newbie) who is sitting pretty on top of the league with his Dad just underneath, so bragging rights belong to him and boy am I suffering, I would have got away with it if it wasn't for them pesky kids.

Low scoring week with the top scorer being Camos Villians with 67 points. My tip for this week is ditch those Man City players. Top four now read as.

1. Camos Villians 271 pts
2. Hellsbells FC 238 pts
3. Bulls Ball Boys 234 pts
4. Jagar Bombers 231 Points

Soooooo many teams over the 200 point mark but the top four are all associated with Training Link, can the trophy stay in the office for another year?

Good luck this week
Dave
