Setting up a professional email account - which one to use?
Permalink Closed

Hello

I am now wanting to set up a professional email address, does anyone have any suggestions on who to use for this?

I was having trouble making up a marketing email, I had it on word and it looks great but pasting it into a hotmail email to send it looked awful. So do you know if I set up a professional email and used outlook or windows live mail could I make my email look exactly as I have it in word, can I make it look professional this way without fiddling around too much? (I'm no designer).

Using windows live mail or outlook - can I use this for my professional email address and have all my other email sent here?

Thanks in advance for your help

Rachel

Hi Rachel

Do you mean the domain? ie @aaabookkeeping.co.uk. There are a number of cheap domain suppliers, do a google search and you will see some. My wife used 1and1 for her childminding domain and we had no issues. Using this as oppose to @gmail.co.uk / @hotmail.co.uk etc does look more professional in my opinion.

I recommend using mailchimp for your marketing emails - it is free, incredibly easy and you personalise them with name filed merges, track who opens them and when, what they click on etc. It is good fun emailing back saying "Thank you for opening my email last night, I note you clicked on...... etc etc" check out one of mine here

You can even repeat campaigns for all those who didn't open your emails, or send follow ups for all those who did, it really is amazing considering it free for up to 2000 emails a day.

Yes you can set up any email address to work with Outlook and have your personal and business accounts side by side in the same application - no more webmail logins...

Hi Jeremy, Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I will check out mailchimp, that sounds like exactly what I need and 1&1.
Thanks again

I second mailchimp. It's a great system especially when you see everything you get free with it.

Regaring your email address it's a great move to get your own domain, much more professional looking. You'll need 2 things though, a domain name and hosting. The domain name can come from someone like 1&1 or 123reg, they're all pretty much the same price. For simple hosting like emails I recommend m8internet.com, they offer a package for £1 a year, great when you come to do a website too.

Hi Kris, thanks for your reply. I decided to go back to vista print for email and website because I've been going round in circles with 123 reg. Mail chimp looks really useful I will definitely be using that in the future. I saw on another post somewhere that you build websites for other bookkeepers from £10.00 per month. I'm getting so fed up of trying to do it myself (I'm useless at it) that I think it would just be so much easier to pay someone else to do it. Do you have a price list of what you do please?
Thanks
Rachel

also actually, I am using windows live mail and am trying to make a signature with the ICB crest at the bottom, I don't suppose you can design these? If I had in word or something exactly how I want it to look can you make it into whatever format I would need for windows live mail signature?
