PAYE CONTROL ACCOUNT

Bank payments to HMRC usually go to 2210, and the PAYE journals would post the wages and PAYE into the P&L via 2210/2220.

The PAYE journal will create a credit in 2210 and the bank payment would create a debit to clear that balance

If the December 2012 balance is the same as the payment, it will clear in January.

If you ran the TB at 31.12.12, it would still be there.. but that would be correct, as the balance WAS outstanding at 31.12.12.
