Looking for some advice regarding home learning for bookkeeping.
Permalink Closed

Hi,

I'd like to retrain as a bookkeeper and have pretty much decided on The Training Link to do my qualification with. Just wondering if anyone has any idea of how much it will cost to sit the 5 exams. Other training centers include the cost of the exams in their overall package this company doesn't. They've been incredibly helpful on the phone regarding all my other questions but the guy wasn't sure about the cost of sitting the exams, which I'd like to know in case they're astronomical! Unsure whether there's a standard charge for all the colleges or if it differs. Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks

Nicola

Hi Nicola,

I think that its only really the seriously expensive ones that include the exam fee's.

exam costs with ICB aren't so bad (but then I'm comparing them to the ACCA one's lol).

Also for setting up self employed ICB is a sound choice.

For all of the current subscription fees (#1) and examination fee's see here

www.bookkeepers.org.uk/Membership/Fee%20Structure

(I posted a link rather than the prices as don't want people reading this in twi years and being misled).

You were probably talking with Dave at TL. Nice fella who won't try to lead you up the garden path about what the ICB qualification will and will not do for your career prospects.

TL are certainly a reasonably priced training providers for the ICB qualification (don't worry, cheaper doesn't always equate to lower quality).

welcome to the forum,

kind regards,

Shaun.

#1 confirm whether your course includes a years subscription to ICB student membership. Sure it does but worth confirming anyway

Hi Shaun,

Thanks very much for replying so quickly, your information has been very helpful and much appreciated.

Oddly enough it was Dave I spoke to at Training Link and he was great & you're also right in that it's the most expensive college's (naming no names!) that include the exam fee's!

Thanks again for your help.

Nicola

I did the payroll management course with training link, they were excellent! I wish I had done all of the courses with them. They are by far the cheapest and the courses and tutors were really good.
