Reconciling a balance
Permalink Closed

I am trying to reconcile a balance and every transaction is as is the bank statement but the O/Bal last reconciled balance is showing £4906.34. However my last reconciled balance from August should be £4881.35 - as it shows on my report from last month. Why would there be a difference in the actual last reconciled balance and the one showing in the screen when I go in to reconcile this months balance?

I am confused!

Thanks

Hi Rachael,

I assume you are using Sage? One reason for there being a difference is that someone has amended, deleted or added a transaction since the reconciliation was done. It may help to look at the audit trail to see if anything has been deleted. Failing that you will need to tick back on your last bank reconciliation to see what's missing. Hope this helps to get you started.

Hi Sorry yes I'm using Sage

I have ticked back on both months that have been or are to be reconciled and they both match the bank statements to the last penny. I'm baffled. It even says on the bank recon printed off Sage that the figure is 4881.35. but in the little screen below in the reconciling window it says O/Bal 4906.

I'm off to have a look at the audit trail. Lord only knows what I've done! Out by 31.55 - so annoying...

Hi Rachael,

Were there no outstanding transactions at month end? Either outstanding receipts or payments that may have been reconciled by mistake?
