Good Morning,

Im trying to get everything together to start my new business and Im a little stuck on a hosting provider Id like a Wordpress one.

I like the look of them but having searched around the internet I not sure who do go with I would need the whole package including domain I think.

If anyone could offer any advice that would be great.

Have a good day everyone!!!

Michelle

As a general rule, hosting companies aren't set up specifically as WordPress hosts - although some do offer easy WordPress installation for those customers who want it, and for others it involves a little more work. (Installation and setting up of WordPress is easy if you know what you're doing but, like anything, not everyone does).

However, if you pop along to wordpress.org, IIRC there's a link there for hosting that lists a couple of recommended companies, but if you want to go elsewhere it should tell you them minimum requirements a hosting company needs to offer - the version of MySQL and PHP.

For what it's worth, my hosting is with 1and1.co.uk, and they do meet the requirements - I have WordPress set up on three domains. They are, however, one where you need to set up the MySQL database and install WordPress yourself.

Just in addition to Vince's point. I use www.hostxnow.com, they are reasonably priced and use softaculous software to autoinstall wordpress and setup the database.

My advice is very much though, that your website is your shop front. If it looks cobbled together by an amateur then that's how your service will be perceived. It's better to spend a little and get it right from the beginning.

Also have a look at Vidahost.com  Top notch support answered by knowledgeable staff not reading from a script.  Will cost you about £35 yearly for domain name and hosting.  Once you have the domain and hosting you can install wordpress by going to the control panel and selecting wordpress under softalicious.

No connection with them other than being a very satisfied customer.

If you have any problems or you need any help give me a shout and I will be happy to do it for you.

Regards

John
