Yes, its only the P&L that shows that month in isolation. If you use it to go to any account whilst it shows that months figures in isolation it will also show the b/fwd balance.
My answer was peculiar to showing the P&L for that month (or indeeed any period between two dates) only.
If you are saying that you are ONLY getting the YTD date can you clarify for me exactly how you are getting to there as there should be a period column to the left of it (I generally use F5 to bring up the P&L and then just adjust the period via the Options in the bottom left of the P&L panel).
I'm assuming as well that you've not been changing the formatting of the financial statements.
Here's an example of what I would be expecting you to see (on month extracted from a micro company, all distinguishing information removed via MS Paint) :
As I say, the answer relates to the P&L only, not the individual balances that constitute it which will show the B/FWD figure although, even though personally I see no issue in that information being available you could swap to spreadsheet mode and just copy and paste to Excel to lose the b/fwd for incorporation into your management report.
p.s. edited because the attachment disappeared.

I am trying to get a monthly profit/loss for management purposes. I have changed the current period to the month I want but it is bringing forward the balances from previous months too. Is there a way to just show October?
You don't want the year to date so you have unchecked the comparative year column
You click current period and type in the to and from date (within the current period)
It should only give you the P&L between those two dates.

Something isn't right then. It's showing it year to date then when I click an account it's shows a brought forward amount then the months transactions.
I've lost count of the number of times that I've missed something obvious myself.
