Business cards and leaflets
Permalink Closed

Evening all,

I need to get some professional looking business cards and leaflets printed. I have a photo of a card that I designed but no artwork for it. I have a contact through some friends who is charging £20 to design the card and if I wanted him to arrange to have them printed, he would quote me depending on the quantity. Is this the norm? Are his prices right or is there a cheaper way of me doing this? he will pass on the artwork to me so that I can have them printed again by whoever I choose in the future so won't have to pay for the design again unless my details changed.

Also, I have decided to have some leaflets printed. I know not all of you have gone down this route but for those of you who have, did you use templates that these printing companies give you or did you go another route?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a good deal. A professional design is worth it's weight in gold. You can do it yourself, but this is your business image.

Sounds a good price, if they have done some other stuff that you like then i would go with them.

As Kris says it is important that these look professional as it reflects on your business.

Re flyers I would just get a local company to do them.  There are plenty of them about that do a good job.

I've used an online company before - Goodprint for both business cards and postcards, which I used instead of flyers. The postcards came in cheaper than flyers and looked much more professional. The business cards are exceptional value, they are laminated and I always get comments on their quality when I hand them out - even from a friend who is in the printing business, but couldn't come anywhere near their price. They are template driven, but have loads to choose from which can be customised to your own choice.

£20 to design the cards is a steal, I was charged £150 per hour many years ago!

Thank you, I might take him up on his offer!

Debbie, did you generate much business through the leaflets? I have asked permission to leave a pile of leaflets at the trade counter on a few hardware shops and major retailers. I'm also planning on placing them on vans, taxi's, and other work vehicles. Do you think this would be a good idea? I have done a bit of cold calling and have managed to get 2 annuals out of this but am looking at other ways to get peoples attention.

I managed to pick up 6 new clients, but dropped around 1000 postcards for this. Still well worth it and got plenty of exercise doing it smile

I delivered door to door. Only one of my clients came from the white van approach. Most were from houses that you wouldn't have expected to be businesses and have produced better paying clients.

Enjoy the exercise.

Debbie's right, delivering leaflets door to door in the right area will reap rewards for you.

Take your business cards and leaflets along to networking events as well - you'll find plenty of choice in London, but if you want a reasonably priced one I can highly recommend Business Biscotti (most Biscotti events are free) http://www.businessbiscotti.co.uk/biscotti-groups-information-events/group-information/london-groups.html

And yes I am slightly biased, being a Biscotti Ambassador myself
