P87 form - mileage
Permalink Closed

Been looking at employees claiming travel expenses back via the P87 form. They can claim the difference between what they actually received and 45p per mile.

An employee can also be paid 5p per mile per passenger if that passenger is also going to the same workplace.

Looking at the P87 form it looks as though they can only claim back the 45p - have I understood that correctly?

Just been reading about it on a football forum and was just wanting to check. I know some people that may be interested in any reply. (ie footballers using their own transport to get to an occasional away game where their was no transport provided by the club).

I had to fill one of them in last year. You can only claim the difference of what you get and the 45p per mile. Can't help with regards to the passenger.

Hi Peasie,

The employee can't claim an additional 5p even though he can receive up to that amount tax free from the employer.

I guess they want to keep the P87 procedure ultra simple.
