Greater Manchester Pension Fund is looking to hire Investments Manager (Traditional and Alternative Assets) in UK! Apply before 15.12.2013
The Greater Manchester Pension Fund is one of the largest UK pension funds with total assets of over £12 billion and is administered by Tameside MBC.
Achieving strong investment returns is vital to the continuing success of Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) and it is the strength of such returns which will continue to enable GMPF to offer a high quality pension scheme to its members at a cost which is affordable to its employers.
This new post is designed to provide extra internal resource to play an important role in helping achieve the necessary returns when prospects are for difficult economic and market conditions over coming years.
The post lies within the Fund's 'Investments Group' whose remit extends to providing investment strategy advice to the Fund Trustees, overseeing the activity of the Fund's external public market securities managers, and investing in private market pooled vehicles on a national and international basis. You will report to Steven Taylor (Head of Pensions Investments) and will contribute to all areas of the team's work as necessary, although key growth areas for the team are in corporate governance, in expanding the number of external managers and the types of private market opportunities captured, and in offering differentiated investment strategies to individual employers. The role requires a range of relevant experience, strong analytical skills and a thorough approach to due diligence.
Experience and professional qualifications relating to investments, commercial banking or accountancy will be a major advantage for this post. The post requires an incumbent who is sympathetic to the need for a strong compliance culture.
The selection process for this post may involve certain online testing prior to interview.
