Upgrade Sage 2010
Permalink Closed

Hi everyone

Does anyone know how to upgrade Sage 2010 to the latest version which end sin 158?  My laptop has crashed, and on reloading Client Manager, it seems to think the version ending in 156 is the latest version.  I cant find the link to manually upgrade - its been driving me bonkers!

Hi Bruce, thanks for coming to my rescue!

I have downloaded the file and it asks me if I want to update the application files in the folder which ends in ADM/2010 - which I think is correct, but then it tells me that the location is invalid? Any thoughts?

I have loaded the demodata contents into the company.000 folder in order to get access to the actual program and I can see in About, its the version ending in 156.

I have also tried running the updates rolling forward, selecting version 147 from the sage/au list and running update 1.. this was successful but I get the same error message when I try to run update 2 or 3

It should be looking for the Sage installation folder eg C:\Program Files\Sage\Accounts

It might be different in the Client Manager version.

Hi Bruce

I think the Client Manager versions are stored in the Sage/ADM folder, which allows for multiple versions of Sage (I have 2009 to 2013). The ADM folder holds sub folders for each year. And the update is looking to the ADM/2010 - which sounds like the right place. The Accounts folders, as I understand, hold only the company data files... and I cant see any other folders that have yearly sub folers, so I am assuming the ADM folder must be holding the program software files

If you go to the datafolder and delete the watermark.xml file you will be able to get in. (this is normally in the directory that ACCDATA is in, not in the ACCDATA directory.)

Once in

Help>About>System Information>Directories>Program Directory

This should give you the path to your installation directory which is where the update should be installed to.

Morning Bruce

The program directory shows the 2010 ADM folder as the path, so its looking in the right place, yet the upgrader says it cant see the version ending in 156. However, "About" says that's whats loaded.

The Sage/au site starts with version 147 and when I load Update 1, it gets accepted and says the update has run ok. But any of the further upgrade links bring up the same message, which states that the version I am trying to upgrade is not in that folder, and then it wants me to browse. Leading it to the ADM/2010 folder doesn't work. Very bizarre

Just noticed....

The version I have is 16.0.17.0156

I select this from the update list on sage/au

But the error message says it cant find 16.00.16.0156 ??

I also spotted that, in programs and features, it lists the version as 16.0.14.147

You are trying to apply Update2 (which is not needed.)

You need to download and apply - Sage 50 Accounts 2010 - Update 3

If About says version 156, shouldnt program and features say the same thing?

I've done it! Not sure how! I did a fresh install and renamed the watermark file before opening it up, and this seemed to set the starting version as 147 instead of 156.

You still need to update it to the current version

go to the sage website www.sage.co.uk/au

enter the version number you are now on and it will tell you what updates you need to install.
