Due to continued expansion, Abellio is now looking to appoint a proven Senior Financial Controller to join the senior management team in the UK.

Reporting into the Deputy MD Finance and Commercial for Abellio UK, you will be providing financial support to the executive board, the UK financial management team and the Abellio Group HQ in the Netherlands. You will manage a small finance team and your responsibilities will include:- 

 

Development and improvement of the UK's accounting maturity in reporting, budgetary controls, business planning, forecasting and monthly reporting to both internal stakeholders and the group head office. Review of statutory accounts for all UK holding companies 

Preparation of accurate monthly management reports and quarterly forecasts with value added commentaries and insightful analysis

Working in close collaboration with the UK finance community and being the first point of contact for queries, advice and financial governance enquiries

Supporting the finance transition of newly won and acquired businesses within the UK operation

Liaison with the group corporate control on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis for forecasting and business planning cycles 

Representing the UK holding business on both internal and external audit requirements, and coordinate the half yearly audit committees 

Supporting project teams on UK rail and bus bids, and any UK M&A due diligence work, including post-acquisition activity 

Designated deputy for the UK Deputy MD Finance and Commercial at UK subsidiary boards as required

 

Primarily working from our London office, the role will involve some travel to the various UK subsidiaries and to Abellio Group HQ in the Netherlands.

 

 

 

Who we're looking for

 

 

You will have a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with proven experience operating in a senior finance role and strengths in both commercial analysis and financial reporting. Candidates will preferably come from an operational industry such as transport, infrastructure, FMCG, franchise delivery and/or have experience involving bids, tenders or contract management.

 

You must be professional, proactive and an effective communicator able to present at senior management and board level. You will have strong commercial acumen, gravitas and credibility.

 

Flexibility is a key requirement as the role involves travel around the UK and overseas to the Abellio Group HQ.

 

 

What's on offer

 

Salary circa £90,000 - £100,000 plus bonus and benefits
