What financial year am i in??
Permalink Closed

Hi, i am new to book keeping and to sage.

We have just got the sages accounts back from the accountant and i have uploaded the data( i think i have anyway) but i keep getting the "outside of financial year" message. i want to check what financial year sage says i am in, and is this message normal or have i done something wrong?

I need to start entering data soon as i need to pay the VAT at the end of January!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks :)

This is because the accountant didn't carry out the year end procedure before sending you the backup. What date is the end of your financial year? Once you know that you will need to go to Settings, Change Program Date and change it to your year end date. Then go to Tools, Period End, Year End. This will bring up a dialogue box where you can run the year end. This will bring you into your current financial year.

In the meantime you can carry on entering the data but you will get that annoying message until you 'year end' it

You can ask it to pause the message on the later versions
