Hi everyone. Just wondering how you guys feel about running your own businesses. Is it worth the loss of steady income? Would you go back to having a day job?

Personally no I wouldn't go back to having a proper job, and all the office politics that goes with it, I really don't miss it at all.

Absolutely love what I do and the freedom to determine your own destiny is fabulous! I love Mondays - find the weekend a bit irritating actually. It's hard work but then work is only work when you don't like what you are doing.....

steady income sometimes tempting and then I remember the problems being constantly in an office with the same people, thoughts of missing the school run and juggling home life and the temptation soon fades.

And you can make all the various school plays - appointments or anything that matters without having to book time off (you just get up earlier or work later into the evening). It's not for everyone, as a degree of self discipline is required - but the benefits can far outweigh the costs.

 Hi Violet,

One of our students had a feature in a national magazine and I've provided a link below. This was also available via the ICB website but I could not locate the link so please accept apologies for guiding you via our own site.

I would never promise that everyone's experiences would be the same, but this shows that it is possible to be successful.

Good luck.

Best move I ever made

1. Get to work what hours I want

2. Get to keep all the money that clients pay.

3. Earn more than ever did in practice.

4. Get to watch the telly while at work.

Business has grown a lot quicker than I thought it would.  At a crossroads.  Can either stick where I am happily work away replenishing any clients that leave/close down etc. Or move to the next level and look to employ someone and look to act for 150-200 clients.  Though that's a consideration for post 31st Jan.

Thank you all for the responses; just the motivation I needed. Office politics is driving me up the wall and I just want to do my school runs in peace. I only have 3 clients at the moment but hearing from you guys has given me hope. Can't wait for the day I don't have to go to a job!
