I have a client I am in the process of completing his SA Tax Return and he wants to know can landlords spread rental profits between spouses and minimise tax?
If the property is jointly owned then the default position is to allocate on a 50:50 basis. If its owned completely by one spouse I believe there would need to be a transfer of at least 1% and then the completion of form 17. I don't think this can be done retrospectively though.
