Looking For Payroll Training... Any Ideas?
Permalink Closed

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to learn payroll and having looked on the web at providers they all seem to offer Sage training but no real training in payroll principles.

I'm currently involved in payroll so know how the software part of things work, but I want to learn more than how to simply run payroll via a software package and eventually apply for the CIPP membership.

Can anyone point me in the right direction without the need to complete a Sage training course.

Thank you in advance.

The Ideal schools training, while it is on Sage starts with a tome of manual work that you have to complete. It's sitting on my shelf leering at me - full of contract law and basic principle stuff! Have a chat with Brian, he comes on here a fair bit.

Hi Jasper,

Our payroll course is aimed toward the ICB qualifications, so not the CIPP route you were looking for, although there is a significant section dealing with the underpinning knowledge of the payroll function. By all means get in touch if you'd like to discuss any aspect of the training.

Theresa, many thanks for the mention. Hope things are still going well for you smile

Well, we live 20m above the flood level in Purley, no-one in the family has died in the last 4 weeks and (touch wood) all are currently healthy so as long as pulling out the files and doing some studying doesn't instantly jinx me - it's looking good so far smile

A big thank you to Brian at Ideal Schools for answering my partners questions quicker than he could ask them. And Theresa (unwize owl) thanks for pointing us in the right direction.

Hi Jasper,
I bought a sage instant self study payroll course from Amazon for about £50, found it really interesting and a month later passed the ICB payroll exam with a 93% merit. I'm now with CIPP doing a 3 year foundation degree in payroll management which is really interesting and in depth. Definitely recommended,
Maria.

Hi Jasper,

Might be worth your while having another look at the course. It'll also provide you with actual software that you can continue to use for your business as previously discussed. More expensive than 180 day license software....YES. Better value for money in your situation...YES.

Always available to help smile
