New clients are flying in......just want to share my good fortune with everyone!!
Permalink Closed

3 weeks ago I was thinking of writing to businesses offering free payroll when I take on their bookkeeping. After advice from others on here I decided not to, lots of work with not so much money coming in.

Anyway in the last 3 weeks it has taken off!!! I'm getting calls from new clients every few days.....I can't believe it, I have been waiting for this for such a long time.

I spent months trying to get myself out there by posting flyers, free on-line advertising on sites like Gumtree, free index and yellow pages etc and Facebook (this is where most of the work has come from people sharing my page and me asking clients to post on my page when I have done work for them).  Then a very lucky day, I had a phone call from a lady who works in an accountancy practice but also has private client for whom she does their vat, she has given up the work due to being ill and wanted to know if she could refer her 10 clients to me!!! she got my details from a letter I wrote back in May last year to the practice that she works at.

I'm so pleased (and busy) and just wanted to share with everyone

Rachel

Good news Rachel, long may it last.

It weird how it can suddenly change or go in waves. I've had a steady flow of work for months, and then all of a sudden this month has seen lots of interest and new signings.

Fabulous, so glad you decided to not do as you planned.....all good things come to those who wait (and it was quicker than we wouldve thought when you wrote the earlier post). Well done you.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

Well done Rachel. I'm in a similar position. I don't have many clients but then I only do this part time ie evenings and weekends as I work full time.

I was also going to offer some services FOC to try and get some more experience under my belt and hope that I could bring more clients in that way.

The trouble is you end up doing work too cheaply and then it's difficult to increase your prices. I am sticking to my guns and charging the rate I think I should be charging and if no one likes it then they don't use me.

So far I have a couple of good clients who seem to be more concerned with paying me a reasonable rate and on time.

could do with a few more of them.

Well done again and I am sure it will continue. You will get referrals and repeat business hopefully so it should build up nicely.

I wish you could brush some of your luck off on me!
