A client has come to me regarding claiming back mileage allowance from HMRC, he is employed.
His employer pays him 40p per mile and obviously the HMRC approved rate is 45p.
Some years ago in my days of being employed I used to use a form which allowed for this difference to be reclaimed as a repayment from HMRC but all I can find now is the form P87 http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/p87.pdf which if I am correct allows the difference to be paid back through the employees tax code.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the form that I used to use or does it all have to be done now through the PAYE code.
