Starting Up In Practice
Permalink Closed

Hello All

I am currently planning to be a Book-keeper in practice (up to TB) from June/July once I receive my practicing licence.

I have done a lot of research and there is definitely a particular market that I am hoping to engage with.  I have all the relevant administrative experience and also am studying with the AAT in order to reach MAAT status. A few questions I have are below...

What is the best software to use if any (other than excel)?

As I will be initially working from home are there any requirements other than my PII?

How do engage with an Accountant on a 'consultancy agreement' basis? As I have many potential clients who are interested in supporting my business and getting advice.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Best

Chan

Hi Chan

Regarding software, have a look at what is out there - most give free trials.  It might be best to wait until you get clients as they might already be using a particular one.

Read this post on our blog which may mention some of the things you haven't thought about yet - http://www.seahorseuk.co.uk/blog/thinking-of-starting-an-accountancy-or-bookkeeping-business.php

Sorry this is a short answer to a complex question but I am pushed for time today - hopefully the above link will help you.  Please get in touch if you have any questions that it doesn't cover.

Kind regards

Zöe
