HMRC Basic tools Tax code query
Permalink Closed

hi

I am in the process of running the payroll for a client and one employee is on 944L from last tax year (from his P45) when I am trying to input this months pay the Basic tools tell me that he is on emergency tax and this years emergency tax code is 1000L.  We have had nothing from HMRC to change his code do I just change it?

thanks

Alison

Yes.
Also, any codes that were on a W1/M1 basis last year lose the W1/M1 when carried over to 2014-15.

Any code ending in L automatically has 56 added to it.

This is annoying - I cannot edit the link in Internet Explorer so that it opens in a new window. I have to open Google Chrome to do this.
