Pretty sure that unlike the fantasy football where a prize is offered for no contribution, if people contribute then that would be considered gambling which the site wouldn't be able to allow.
Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and my sincerest appologies for being a stick in the mud.
I know that we do these sort of things in real offices all of the time but when done on open forum its a Carbolic smoke ball case where the offer to participate is being made to the world. Regardless of the profit motive there is no difference between something like this and William Hill making the offer.
As mentioned above, a prize being offered for no contribution is quite different as that is not gambling so requires no licencing. (Although you would still need the permission of Steve of Ross, the site owners to offer a prize (as per the Training Link / BKN fantasy football league).
Sorry again. I know that it sounds Draconian for such an innocent offer but I believe that the site could get in a lot of troble if it allowed it.
kind regards,
Shaun.

Hi Matt, Shaun of course is right and any prize fund would need to be a personal donation, trick is to offer a prize and make sure you win it as I did in this years BKN/Training Link fantasy league comp. There will be some dedicated competition sites for the world cup and I will be happy to find one should you wish to run it? If you are happy to I am prepared to put a £25 prize fund if you wish to match it? I doubt Steve or Ross will have a problem with this and as football fans will probably even join it, might even ask Steve to throw in £25 as well.
