Self Assessment question.
Permalink Closed

Hello,

I am currently working my way through AAT and i'm getting asked about doing sub contractor / sole trader self assessments.

I'd like to start doing them but don't know if I need extra qualications to do it. I've done my own and helped my neighboor to do his without a problem.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice / help.

Barry.

Hi Barry,

I know it must be tempting but even the smallest sole trader / sub contractor will have pitfalls. However, you could carry on doing so on the same basis as you helped your neighbour as this will help gain valuable experience.

It might be a good idea to ask the AAT of their attitude to the above scenario.

You'd be much better armed once you have the personal tax unit done and dusted and get stuck into the business tax module if this is still optional.

Welcome to the forum and good luck.

Tim
