NUS card on Training Link

Hi. Does anyone know if you can get an NUS card when you become a student with Training Link?  I know you can with AAT/Premier but can't see anything on the Training Link site. Thanks.

I would give Dave at TL towers a call to check this.

It seems that all of their major competitors (Premier, Ideal, Open College, etc) offer the ability to obtain an NUS card and its not like TL to be the odd one out.

I did a quick google on this and must say that I'm not seeing the ICB's stance on this.

In a post over on their site a representitive of the ICB states that gaining an NUS card is based on the training provider, not the professional body... Yet as an ACCA student without a training provider you can get an NUS card based on the qualificationt that you are studying (so basically down to the professional body, not the training provider).

As I say, bring it up with Dave as it might be something that you can get through them but they just haven't pushed it as a feature.

Don't worry, Dave's a nice guy and tends to go out of his way to try and help students.

All the best,

Shaun.

Hi Rachel

(shaun thanks for your reply above)

I remember many moons ago you could only get an NUS card if you were at Uni or College nowadays this is not the case, we (Training Link) don't advertise the NUS card for the simple reason ICB do their own reward scheme which is similar in theory to the NUS card whereas money can be saved on the high street, travel etc. Once you are a registered ICB student Rachel you can apply for a NUS card by following the link below. I believe it costs £12 which we could advertise as free within our course fees but like I said ICB have their own scheme and Training Links emphasis is on quality training as that is what we specialise in.

For details on NUS cards please copy and paste the following url into your browser on the following link http://www.nus.org.uk/en/register/

For details on the ICB scheme copy and paste the following url into your browser http://www.bookkeepers.org.uk/Membership/Benefits

Hope this is of help Rachel and happy saving biggrin

Dave

Cheers Shaun, I am ok thank you for asking my friend and hope you are too? I will get around to PM you soon I promise lol, you know how it is, bogged down during the day and mentally drained during the evening but I do get to see the sun through the bars of my office window lol. However taking my Mum away in August for a few days so will get to charge the old battery up again. Hope Peter is well and you are getting to spend some quality time together. All the best Dave

I have an NUS card and I study with the ATT instead of AAT and when filing in the online application I put ATT as the training provider and not the actual training provider (tolleys) and it went through fine. When you get to the part of the training provider the association of accounting technicians will probably be on the list to select.

Hope this helps
