Was it one of those £1 checks Mark? If so I'd stick it straight to sundries 6900. If you have taken out some kind of subscription then either 'subscriptions' (8201) or professional services (7603) would do.

If it's one of those £1 personal checks, or the subsequent subscription if you don't cancel after 30 days, then I don't see how it can be justified as a business expense (since those are only a check on yourself).

If you are a sole trader and you think you may have adverse credit ratings that affect your business I would consider this a business expense but if what Vince is suggesting is correct and it is personal then it will fail on the 'wholly and exclusive' rule. If your business is incorporated then absolutely agree with Vince that it is not a business expense unless it is later declared on the P11D....all this for a quid!
