Submitting Accounts to Companies house in paper format
Permalink Closed

Hi,

Can you still submit abbreviated accounts to companies house in paper format?

It's my first year end on 31/12/2014 and am going to submit my own accounts but do not have the software to do this so was going to do them in paper format this time.

I've been on companies house website but cannot see the forms.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Elaine

Hi Elaine, you don't need any software just go to Companies House web site and go to the 'web filing' section and there is an option to submit abbreviated accounts on line.

Hi Rob,

What about the IXbrl?

I thought they had to be submitted in that format?

Hi Elaine

Doing it online would create the IXBRL for you, in effect. However, you can still file on paper.

Ive done both, but then discovered how easy it was to do it online with Co House webfiling and its so very much quicker. Their helpdesk are really good if you need them (better if you ring rather than email though)

(Only did for my own company pre being a book-keeper, just in case anyone was wondering)

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You will be submitting abbreviated accounts to Companies House either by paper return or using the companies house online template.  Not sure how the template works as never used it.

IXBRL is the format you need the full accounts in to be submitted with the company tax return to HMRC.  Again not sure how you do this if you dont have appropriate software to prepare but expect you can do something on HMRC site to create an IXBRL file for free.

Hi Elaine. Submitting on line via companies house is quite straightforward and its all laid out in balance sheet format. You don't need ixbrl, that's for submitting full accounts to HMRC. Submitting accounts to HMRC is not as straightforward. You can do a CT600 online on their website but it's quite clunky although it does the ixbrl tags at the same time.
