Has anyone with a payroll client that doesn't give the payroll to you on time had a penalty for late filing yet?
I have to chase mine every week and it's starting to irritate but they are also a friend so it is a bit awkward. I was hoping for some sort of crackdown info on HMRC to shake them up a bit but can't see anything appropriate.
Im in the exact same situation Sam. Cut off day for wages was close of business the 9th for payday 16th, which is tomorrow and yet Ive heard nothing, nada, zilch. This is the 3rd month running! Think I will introduce my own fines too!
Ive had an RTI message for just one of my payroll clients who has less than 49 on their payroll to say fines will start next year, but Ive not had one for this client (although Ive just remembered whilst typing that Im not down as an agent!!)
I am NOT phoning him again - will just wait for the staff to riot!

I have a letter of engagement so that covers my resonsibility but I really don't like the feeling that I can't do my job properly.
They also have a couple of employees who earn a very small amount per week but it is their 2nd job so the payroll software automatically issues a BR code. I have asked them to call HMRC and explain the situation and query the tax code but nothing as yet.
I know what you mean, Sam, cos I'm close to emailing mine now cos I'm out a lot tomorrow, but on the basis he has ignored several emails, calls and a text I'm going to sit on my hands when I've finished typing this. I'm chasing him for CIS too.
If it's 2nd jobs then the BR code is correct isn't it? Don't think HMRC can cope with anything else.
