Ethical guidelines and LOE Help

Hiya,

I am struggling to for wording for ethical guidelines as i am not a member of the AAT, ICB ect.

AAT General template and paragraph for ehtical guidelines is:

We will observe the ethical guidelines of the Association of Accounting Technicians and accept instructions to act for you on the basis that we will act in accordance with those guidelines.  A copy of these guidelines will be supplied to you on request.

How can i read word the section regarding AAT guidelines.

Thanks

You cannot refer to a document that you are not bound by due to not being a member of that body.

You could however replace all reference of AAT with reference to the IFAC code of ethics for financial professionals which the AAT ethical guidlines would have been based upon.

Of course, these are not just words. It is a code of honour and integrity which as a financial professional you should read and adhere to.... Be warned. They are very much like Asimovs laws of robotics in that they read easily but when translated into real life scenarios they can have a tendency to not be quite as obvious to interpret as at first reading.

Thats getting away from the question though.

If you need to keep that paragraph then simply replace the AAT standards with adherence to the IFAC code.

Kind regards,

Shaun.

Hi Shaun,

I have just read through a few bits of the IFAC code handbook, and it refers to professional accountants, which i am not. My LEO is for payroll services which i am qualified to do, so where would i stand with ethical guidelines.

Thanks
