Personally - I use Frank Woods Business Accounting 1 - its fantastic and used it all the way through my ICB manual exams. You can buy a paper copy on Amazon for a few pounds or download a PDF copy for free.
The above both point to current versions but as with many books in this field you really don't need the current one as the two things that never change are bookkeeping and management accounting.
Financial accounting books on the other hand have a much shorter shelf life and tax books... Well, they should come with a timestamp as it seems that they expire between ordering them and delivery.

Yes Shaun - I did mean the first link. I found that link 2 (Frank and Sheila) didn't go deep enough, to fully cover the ICB syllabus (ie partnership accounts).
