I have a P45 from the jobseekers people - They state tax code and tick the box for w1/m1. But then they also advise its week 35 but do not quote pay to date nor tax.
I assume I use the former in my payroll software.
The member of staff has sent me her P45 from before Jobseekers and a letter from Jobseekers showing what they paid her but I am ignoring these two as I do not reliably know that I have the full picture

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
If the code when leaving employment is a week 1/month 1 code then the P45 will never show any pay to date or tax deducted, so you are right to just use the tax code in your software. It is the P45 with the latest date that you should use.
