VAT on website advertising for client based in Dublin
Permalink Closed

Afternoon,

I know one of you lovely people can advise on this.  I have a client who advertises jobs on a UK website. They have a client based in Dublin but I am not sure if they should be charged VAT?  its B2B but as the place of supply is technically the UK I am not sure if VAT should be charged.  having read VAT 714A I am non the wiser (hate reading these things on line with all the refer to  section X etc).

thanks in advance for your help

Alison

A UK business supplying advertising to an Irish business is a General Rule service. Therefore the invoice is VAT free, and VAT is accounted for by the recipient under the Reverse Charge procedure. The PoS is Ireland in this situation, hence the Reverse Charge.
