Hi

I am trying to source a list of the Vat T codes to assist me with posting purchase invoices. I have checked HMRC and cannot find anything. Can anybody point me in the right direction please.

Hi Nikola

I am assuming you are talking about Sage tax codes?

HMRC do not use tax codes as such because they are only interested in the value, or if there are any EC acquisitions.

Sage tax codes basically distinguish between standard rates, reduced rates, zero & exempt rates, EC transactions, and out of the scope of VAT.

These are used more by the program to help calculate the VAT liability, and report the correct amounts in the correct boxes (slightly simplified but the gist is the same)

I found this website that lists the main ones, and have attached a pdf exctract

Edit: Forgot to mention, you can find a comprehensive list in Sage Help (F1)

Thank you very much for your help Bill.

I am a long way off from using Sage for the vat return. Still i want to get it right and hopefully get my client back on track with their accounts
