Just a rant!

Sorry all but can I have a rant.  First full proper day back and its started already

1) Phone call from customer - 'can you do something to do with Corp Tax for me as I havent got a printer'   Suggested speak to Accountant who can do it online as they do the CT. No prefer me to do it, demanding I do it within the hour (no chance!)

5 minutes later - phone call from client- Ive just been speaking to a friend!!!!   Dont you just love those words of wisdom.  In this case they were actually agreeing with me that she should get the Accountant to do it, but now my client wants me to speak to her Accountant, still in the next hour, now 55 minutes.

2) Call from customer - I want you to deal with all my contracts and legal paperwork. I need to meet you now!

3)  Ive got a tax code, well Ive got two but they are both wrong. When can I have my tax refund (which I know NOTHING about) I will ring HMRC and let you know (not from a Director but from one of his staff!)

4) Is my VAT return ready - NO, because Im still waiting on the o/s paperwork - you have had the excel list 15 times over the last month!  Your bag!

Thats as far as Ive got with my emails!

Aggghhhhh.

Dont you just love this job?!?!?!

What?!

You can't work miracles?
You can't do 49 things all at the same time?
Producing full and complete accounts out of thin air with no reference to the clients paperwork, knowing instantly the exact amount in their bank and exactly how their invoicing and other paperwork is managed when you haven't spoken to them in months as they can't be bothered to return your calls.
You can't absorb information by a combination of osmosis and telepathy?

Whilst skipping no less!

And you call yourself a Bookkeeper?
.
.
.
.

No... neither can I :)
but it doesn't stop those blessed clients from assuming we can.

Happy New Year!

Be firm but polite Jo. Yes, you can help them (if you want to of course) but stipulate your timetable rather than theirs.

Keep calm, grab yourself a vodka and coke, and carry on biggrin

Haha, so very true, thank you both Theresa and John. Yes I was firm, polite and professional - I will do it on Wednesday was the response to the first one, which she followed up by - I will phone you after one today. My phone is now buried in the garden!  Happy New Year to you both and I hope you're having a better day.

I did know it was going to be bad with other stuff - Im just singing Boomtown Rats I Hate Mondays and drinking a coffee with brandy in it, hic. The singing is causing the dogs and cats in the area to howl!
