Supplier payment

Hi there,

Can someone please help me out. I had an invoice to be paid by direct debit. I entered the invoice and when I was entering the supplier payment, I entered the wrong date (10/12/2015), instead of 10/12/2015. The invoice was matched, however when reconciling the December 2014 bank statement, I cant match the bank payment(DD) against any amount as  the original invoice is matched with the payment at incorrect date. How can I sort this out and reconcile my Bank statement.

Many thanks for the helps.

Tazzy your dates are the same in your post - mistype maybe?

If you havent run a year end or VAT return yet, just go into file/maintenance/corrections and change the bank payment date

sorry, the date I entered is 10/12/2015, it should have been 10/12/2014.

Presumably since posting the mistake you havent run a year end or VAT return? So can just use file/maintenance/corrections?

Hi,

One more question please. I have matched all the items on the bank statement. The Book balance,  ending balance and the matched balance are all correct as per the statement. however, the difference in the bottom right hand corner is not Zero, it is double the end balance. Please help.

So your Book balance bottom left hand should be whatever sage states as a balance in the bank module, ending balance you input as your closing balance on the date you're reconciling up to as per your statement (make sure you put the closing balance date in as per statement) and your matched balance should be your opening balance at the top of the lower pane plus all that you have matched. It would be difficult to know where you could have gone wrong but that is the first thing I would look at, also you wouldn't have put either a minus figure in the end balance or is the bank account overdrawn and you have put a positive figure in the end balance.

I am afraid you are going to have to go through it all and work out why its wrong.

Do one statement sheet at a time.
Make sure your end balance (top right) is per the closing balance on the statement.
Check your opening balance is correct in the bottom box (it should also match the statement).
Move each item to the bottom box in the same order as they appear on the bank statement.
That should give a NIL difference.

Sounds like you may have entered the closing balance incorrectly - an O/D balance needs to be entered as a minus figure.

Thanks All,

I had entered the ending balance incorrect. All digits except one was wrong in that and I guess I have been staring my screen too much today to realize that i entered the figure wrong. But now all sorted and have now reconciled the statement.
