I'm just checking. Does "midnight on the 31st" mean tonight at midnight when the 31st arrives or tomorrow night at midnight when the 31st ends? (Please let it be tomorrow)?
Aw, thank you so much Michelle. This is first time I've been doing this and I really wasn't sure. Having a panic and was waiting with bated breath for an answer from one of you experienced people.
But don't leave it untill the last minute. HMRC systems are renowned for having occassional meltdowns at the wrong times! (I couldn't get into self assessments for about thirty mins today due to them being under pressure but according to their service screen everything was fine... Yer right!).
Hope that everyone's just about there. My stress levels are well into the red at the moment due to one last client.
Repeat to myself. Its not my problem, it's not my problem... Nope, not working just too wrapped up in trying to save them from themselves for little things like the ball being in their court to stop me stressing about information that they've STILL not given me.
Good luck all. Hope that everything that you can file gets filed in the next 29 hours.

I got 25 still to submit but most of them are done and just need to be agreed before I can send them to be electronically signed or are already with them and they just need to sign.
Got a few coming in tomorrow to physically sign so hopefully not be a late one as was in the office at 5am this morning and not long back home.
Main one to get done is my one but that is a straightforward salary and dividends one.
Lol. Thanks for the advice people. I'm still trying to finish one so it's a good job the deadline wasn't last midnight. I've only had a few to do (plus the catch-up bookkeeping they needed) and I've had sleepless nights all week! Gawd help me if I ever become successful some day.
Good luck
(I wonder how many bookkeepers and accountants make sure they complete all their clients' returns before they do their own)
I am sat here waiting for 3 clients to get their act together - all came late, all not answering emails from last night, asking simple question to proceed.. should I just switch off and go do something less boring instead? Could be on my way to Manchester to spend my hard earned cash on pretty things, by now! Could be cleaning the house that's been left to gather dust the last two months... could be at the salon getting my hair done... hell, I could even be still tucked up in bed... the possibilities are endless! Instead I am sat at my desk waiting.... waiting... slowly going mad because my Nespresso pods have run out....
Chased my last one into submission last night and final filing was at around one this morning. Ended up filing using Andica as not only was it a last minute one but I found out this week that after doing the online request for the 64-8 in good time the client had moved out of their house this week with no access to it and mail forwarding not cutting in until Feb 3rd. They also lost heir internet and their landline in moving to a new area.
Imagine the fun of trying to get someone to find a couple of PAYE references amongst dozens of packing boxes! (they had given me payslips rather than P60's / P45's. Simple stuff but unable to proceed without it).
Think there's a business idea in your post as well, emergency deliveries of heavy duty coffee and Red Bull to Accountants in January. The mark up that you could get away with would be phenominal! I've got a 32 bottle wine rack that I fill with handy liter size supermarket brand red bull equivalents... I don't like to say how many times it gets close to critical restock level in Jan but I'm not actually expecting the withdrawal headaches to start until sometime in March!
Good luck today... Sure that you'll end up like me last night repeatedly phoning your clients until they give up.
And always remember that the Arndale Centre is open on Sundays as well! (and anything not done by tomorrow can wait till Monday)
Shaun.

You will hear the collective popping of wine corks at 12.01 tonight!
PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done Shaun - a whole 23 hours early, so it looks like you are organising the party as you are the only one who has time! Although your wine rack needs an overhaul.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
I told the guy, that when he confirmed there was no other income, I would send the return for approval within an hour of his response, so he should check his emails... he finally replied at 9.45, I returned the draft return at 10am.. am I wrong to be a little put out that I have been sat here all day with no response? (Young lad, with mobile - how hard is it to check your email these days!!)
Now I am stuck with the dilemma - do i file without consent, so he doesn't get the fine? Or do I let it go late? I dont really feel it right to file without express consent, even if I know its right and he will approve (and could amend anyway)
Time for the trafford centre... I WILL shop today!!
1 not able to file as client couldnt find their UTR and they are in Iraq till April but have requested to be sent to his home address here and will get it done next month.
Now onto everything I have been putting back for the last couple of months.
Well done all. Think that we all deserve a pat on the back for that which as usual I feel was achieved despite some of our clients.
... And relax...
